New Technology Research & Development Center

      New Technology R&D Center is mainly engaged in research, development and dissemination of new foundry technology, materials, processes and engineering design, The following sections are affiliated to the new technology research and development center of the institute: the research section of advanced engineering materials, the research section of gravity die casting technology, the research section of advanced melting equipment and comprehensive laboratory section.

     The research section of advanced engineering materials carries out research, development and application work of new materials and technology in the field of nuclear engineering. The newly developed martensitic stainless steel, magnetic ductile iron, low carbon and super-low alloy cast steel, nickel austenitic corrosion resistant cast iron and boron cast steel have been successfully used in industry and national key military projects, such as: driving mechanism for control rods, support of the main equipment, water filter mechanism, etc—used for the Qinshan (2nd period) nuclear power station. Now the property optimizing work of new boron cast steel (shielding material) and research and development of high effective shielding materials are being made.

     The research section of advanced casting febricating technology carries out researh and development of low presure casting, permenant mould casting, expendable pattern casting (EPC), etc., all of advanced shape casting febricating techgnologies and applying them in industries. A developed low pressure casting technology for pressure-resisting copper casting has been applied to febricate some of key parts and components for national important enginnering project. Permenant mould casting technology has been applied to febricate in large amount of castings for automobile. Right now a low pressure cast technology is developing for large sized casting of copper alloys, meanwhile the research section is engaged in research, development and application of wear resisting cast iron、corrosion resising cast iron and heat resisting cast iron as well as ductile cast iron with high properties.

     The research section of advanced die casting technology carries out research and development of computer application in foundry field. The section has successfully developed the numerical simulation software-SRIF Cast, ESRC Cast, Casting Technology CAD, etc. The commercial software developed by the section can be used for numerical simulation, calculation of sand mold casting, gravity die casting, investment casting, electroslag remelt casting, etc. to simulate the processes, to analyze procedure quality and to optimize technology.

     The research section of refining equipment carries out research and development of AOD steel refining equipment. Whole AOD equipment and employee training can be carried out by SRIF.

     In the comprehensive laboratory section, there are some equipments for smelting, heat treatment ,etc. which serve as the means of research and development of new technology, materials and processes.
    It provides technology and devices for casting simulation, proccess design, output of product and process drawings, etc.

AOD Steel Refining Equipment

Characteristic of process and equipment of AOD

  AOD (Argon Oxygen Decarburization) is a process for refining ultra-low carbon stainless steel and cleaning alloy steel. In this process, the molten steel is achieved with ultra-low content of carbon(C<0.01) and sulfur(S<0.003), high degree of cleaning and low content of gas. The steels and castings have desirable mechanical Property.
·The composition of stainless steel should be precisely controlled.
·Making use of the cheap raw material , the cost of produce is reduced.
·Comparing with the only process of EAF, productive efficiency of AOD is highly improved.
